Muscle Relaxants

Flexeril

Soma / Carisoprodol

Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. Soma / carisoprodol may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Take each dose with a full glass of water. The maximum amount of soma / carisoprodol you should take in one day is 1600 mg of carisoprodol, 2600 mg of aspirin.

Cyclobenzaprine

Cyclobenzaprine is the generic form of Flexeril. Cyclobenzaprine is a skeletal muscle relaxant. Cyclobenzaprine relieves muscle spasms of local origin but is not effective in spasms which originate from diseases in the brain or spinal cord.

Zanaflex

Zanaflex (Tizanidine) is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. Tizanidine is used to treat increased muscle tone associated with spasticity. Tizanidine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Take each dose with a full glass of water. Tizanidine is usually taken several times a day. Follow your doctor's instructions. Do not take more than three doses of tizanidine--or more than 36 mg--in 24 hours. Too much of this medication can damage your liver.
